These images were intimate approach for me to begin in color film, marking a beginning phase in my interests for portait photography. Inspired photographers such as Nan Goldin, I began photographing my grandmother while she lived in a nursing home in Miami.
Abuela Alicia passed away a month after the first roll was developed. I consider this small collection as my first series because it was the first time my mind began thinking in the language of an artist, like a child taking saying its first words.
