BIO:
Christine Cortes (they/she) is a first generation Colombian-American artist born in Miami, FL, and raised between Miami and Colombia. As a photo-based artist, they are interested in exploring Post-Documentary Photography through alternative and non-traditional processes of image-making, image-printing, book-making, print-making, and installing images. Christine's community efforts are fundamental to their artist practices, using photography, art education and workshops, and music to make engaging and positive changes in their community in grassroots and DIY spaces. Their work has been featured in Miami Dade Public Library System, The Frost Art Museum, Cumulus Photo, The Bakehouse Art Complex, Void Projects Miami, and The Library of Congress. Christine holds a Bachelors in Fine Arts Photography from New World School of The Arts (2020).
Currently, Christine is an associate artist at Bakehouse Art Complex and the Digital Lab Manager for the space.
The Bakehouse Digital Print Lab is the first Bakehouse facility accessible to Non-Bakehouse Artists.
