This portraiture series is dedicated to Vũ (Khánh Nguyên Hoàng Vũ) and their grandmothers.
Spending an intimate time in Vietnam with Nguyen’s family, Vũ and I were able to create parallels between our shared traditions. This gave us an opportunity to reflect and analyze on a multitude of topics between our family structures, the matriarch, philosophy, catholicism and history of colonization that both transormed our artist practices.
I wanted to create portraits Vu with their grandmothers the way I wish to document my grandmothers’ everytime I am able to be with them.
